Business Process Engine

Workflow System

Electronic forms, approval routing, business rules, document management, audit trails and process analytics.

The problem

Internal processes accumulate rather than get designed. A form is added, an approver is inserted, an exception becomes a habit — until nobody can describe the process end to end, and improving it is impossible because it was never written down.

System architecture

How the system is put together.

  1. Paper
  2. Digital form
  3. Workflow
  4. Approval
  5. Audit trail
  6. Analytics
01

Form builder

Electronic forms with validation, conditional fields and attachments.

02

Routing engine

Sequential, parallel and conditional approval paths expressed as rules.

03

Business rules

Thresholds and conditions that decide routing without human interpretation.

04

Document control

Versioned attachments bound to the request that produced them.

05

Audit trail

A complete, immutable record of who did what and when.

06

Process analytics

Cycle time, waiting time and bottleneck identification per stage.

Capabilities

Core capabilities.

  • Electronic forms
  • Approval routing
  • Business rules
  • Delegation & escalation
  • Document versioning
  • Audit trail
  • Process analytics
  • Role-based access

Technical overview

The routing engine is data-driven rather than coded per process: a new approval path is a configuration, not a release. Every request carries its own history, so the audit trail is a property of the record instead of a separate log that can drift out of step with it.
